What Freddie Mercury Can Teach You About Business

Imagine this...

February 2020.

I had declared that 2020 was to be My Year Of Live Music and I was at my 3rd gig for the year.

I'm beyond excited in the mosh pit of the Firefight Concert in Sydney with some of the best acts in the world on stage to raise money for the people devastated by Australia's fires.

Then...

Queen comes on stage with Adam Lambert filling the iconic shoes of Freddie Mercury.

The crowd goes crazy as video footage of Freddie plays on the screens, as he walks onto the stage of Live Aid in 1985.

Then, for the first time since then, Queen replicates the full, 22 minute set that is recognised as the most iconic gig of Queen's history.

By the end, my voice is scratchy from singing so loudly.

And my thoughts?

YOU have so much in common with Freddie Mercury and Queen!

I'm serious! (well OK not my FIRST thought. My first thought was WTF Michael Buble is next! Can you get any more of a contrast?)

Don't think you have much in common?

Well think about this.

Queen had been playing Bohemian Rhapsody for 45 years when I saw them on stage.

The same songs over and over...

How do they keep it fresh?
How do YOU keep it fresh?

Well, I give you the lessons for your biz in today's 4 minute video.

Then sing out loud with me baby "We are the champions"

Freddie Mercury and You
What do Queen and Freddie Mercury have to do with your business?

Well, this is what I want you to think about.

How many times do you reckon Queen have played Bohemian Rhapsody?

It would have to be in the thousands, wouldn't it? And that was not just when Freddie was with them, even now they've continued and have kept on playing it.

I was lucky enough to see them last year and it was awesome!

But imagine this, every single time they play the song the people who are in the audience get it, they love it. There are even people who heard it for the first time and it's fantastic.

So the question I've got for you is...

How do they keep it fresh?

Why haven't they said...

"Oh, for heaven's sake. I'm so over that, I'm just going to reinvent. I'm bored with it. I'm sure everybody's heard it and they don't want to hear it again."

I'm sure that they have thought that, but they don't.

They keep it fresh. They keep it going.

The crowd loves it!

Keep Your Message Consistent

For you in your business, do you ever find yourself thinking...

"Oh look, I can't share that idea in a podcast / video / post / image again, I've already done that once."

OR

"The course that I'm running, I've talked about it numerous times. Everybody's heard it, I don't want to be rabbiting on..."

OR

"I've been running this course for a while and if nobody has bought it yet they're probably never going to buy it. I think I'll start again because honestly I'm pretty bored with it myself."

Are you thinking those things?

Whenever those thoughts come, I want you to think about Queen and Bohemian Rapsody.

Why? Because your job is NOT to constantly come up with completely new messaging all the time.

It's not to completely reinvent and always be launching new programs or new offers.

Honestly, it's just going to get crazy.

Your job is to keep your message consistent, but keep it fresh.

So maybe give it a slight twist.

You could talk about it in a video and next time you might talk about it in an image.

The another time could talk about it in a live webinar.

It doesn't really matter as long as you are staying consistent, because people want to hear it over and over again until they get it.

You're probably sick of it, but they're getting bombarded with so many messages.

You've actually got the space to keep on repeating your message, just keep it fresh.

Also be aware that there are A LOT of people out there that have not heard your version of Bohemian Rhapsody.

There are a lot of people that need the services that you are offering.

Just make sure that you are letting them know, that you are communicating it.

You're getting up there on stage and belting it out there, baby!

Let them know how to sing along.

How is that for an analogy?

Share With Me

I would love to hear from you.

What's your Bohemian Rhapsody version that you've actually got bored with and you're thinking nobody wants to hear again?

What are you going to do now that you know differently?

How are you going to sing it out there, baby?
